Gordon Sweet

Principal at BKF Engineers, Inc.

Gordon was originally interested in architecture, then he changed both majors and schools in college when he realized his skill set was more suited to civil engineering, and his passion for traffic and transportation-related engineering. Upon completing his studies at the University of Arizona, he moved back to the Bay Area and found his way to BKF early on in 1997. He started in their San Jose office and later moved to lead a team at their Pleasanton location.

His career has mainly focused on transportation projects including highways, light, and heavy rail, bridgework, grade separations, and the like. One project in particular which Gordon has enjoyed working on has been the Highway 101 Marin Sonoma Narrows HOV Widening project, which required a commitment to take the project from start to finish.

Gordon says that having good clients with whom he has personal relationships and who participate as a partner in the process, can be directly attributable to a project’s success.
