Alex Watts

Alex Watts has a diverse work experience with various companies. In 2022, Alex joined Black Swan Data as a Principal Engineer. Prior to that, from 2019 to 2022, Alex worked as a Java Developer / Consultant (Contract) at eBay, where they were involved in consumer-to-consumer and business-to-consumer sales through the eBay website.

Before eBay, Alex worked at Sky from 2017 to 2019 as a Java Developer / Consultant (Contract), focusing on writing enhancements and new features for the NowTV Subscriptions Manager. They were responsible for tracking products and subscriptions for NowTV customers.

In 2017, Alex also had a role as a Java Developer / Consultant (Contract) at Kindred Group plc, working on the core Bonus system for the digital marketing team. This system played a critical role in the betting platform.

From 2015 to 2016, Alex worked at Icon Solutions (UK) Ltd as a Java Developer / Consultant (Contract), where they built a worldwide customer onboarding solution for a Tier One Bank (HSBC).

At Solid State Group, Alex worked as a Java Developer / Consultant (Contract) from 2014 to 2015. They built modules for a highly scalable social network and developed a SKU management system for Unilever.

In 2013, Alex worked as a Java Developer / Consultant (Contract) at eFront, where they delivered a high-performance prototype investment portal for a private equity firm.

Early in their career, Alex held multiple roles at Bluecycle. From 2011 to 2013, they served as a Lead Developer / Development Manager, working on platform development and managing a team. Prior to that, from 2010 to 2011, Alex was a Senior Developer, contributing to the development of the Bluecycle Whitelabel project. From 2009 to 2010, they worked on integrating a new core module with the existing auction platform. And from 2008 to 2009, Alex served as a Senior Developer / Development Team Leader, leading a team through a Greenfield rewrite of the Bluecycle financial systems.

Alex Watts attended the University of Brighton from 2000 to 2004 and obtained a Bachelor of Science (BSc Hons) degree in Computer Science. Additionally, during the same period, Alex also obtained a Bachelor of Science (BSc) degree in Computer Science from the University of Brighton.
