Blackstone Valley Prep Mayoral Academy
Ellen Ashman is an experienced educator with a strong background in special education and curriculum development. Currently serving as a Special Education Teacher at Blackstone Valley Prep Mayoral Academy since September 2020, Ellen previously worked at Santa Barbara Business College from March 2014 to November 2021, where responsibilities included instructing an online Reading 101 class, revising curriculum, and tutoring in mathematics and writing skills. Prior experience also includes a role as a Learning Coach at Educate Online from 2010 to 2014, where Ellen developed individualized learning plans and monitored student progress. Earlier, at Muhlenberg High School from 2006 to 2010, Ellen taught various subjects and managed IEPs for students with diverse needs. Ellen holds multiple degrees, including a Master's degree in Reading Specialist from Kutztown University of Pennsylvania and a Master's degree in Special Education from Bloomsburg University of Pennsylvania.

Blackstone Valley Prep (BVP) is an intentionally diverse network of tuition-free public schools chartered by the Rhode Island Department of Education. BVP offers a high-quality public school choice to the families of Central Falls, Cumberland, Lincoln, and Pawtucket, and currently serves 2,300 scholars, ages 5-22, across six schools.
