Alexander Poirier has a diverse work experience in the marketing and sales industry.
Alexander began their career at Demand Media in 2010 as a Content Writer, where they honed their writing skills.
In 2011, they joined Pencils.com as an Online Community Manager. Alexander successfully managed the company's social network profiles and facilitated discussions within the online community.
Later that year, Alexander became a Writer/Editor at Palomino/Pencils.com, where they further developed their writing and editing expertise. Alexander transitioned to the role of Marketing and Sales Coordinator in 2012, demonstrating their multifaceted abilities.
In 2014, they moved to Blackwing, initially as a Marketing Manager and then as a Brand Manager. Throughout their time at Blackwing, they played a key role in promoting and managing the brand.
Most recently, they have taken on the position of Vice President at Blackwing in December 2021, showcasing their leadership and strategic capabilities.
Alexander Poirier attended the University of the Pacific from 2006 to 2010, where they pursued a degree in English. During their time there, they focused on a variety of subjects including American Literature, English Literature, Non-Fiction Writing, and Creative Writing.

Blackwing
Blackwing pencils built a cult following that included Grammy, Pulitzer and Oscar winners throughout the 20th century. After machinery that enabled its unique design broke in the 1990s, Blackwing pencils became a burden to a corporation focused on mass production, and a commoditized market. Fans went crazy and started paying upwards of $40 per pencil on eBay to seize unused stock. Our parent company, with nearly 100 years of experience in the pencil industry, was asked by consumers to try and claim the brand and reproduce the quality. In 2010, we did just that. And that was just the start. Blackwing’s loyal following of famous artists and musicians has grown in the past five years to include everyday people who simply appreciate well made goods and a chance to unplug once in a while. In 2015, we launched Blackwing Music, a venture that seeks to shine a spotlight on emerging songwriters through live performances and album production. A portion of every Blackwing product sold goes directly to the Blackwing Foundation to fund music and arts programs in public schools. Blackwing is part of the Cal Cedar family of businesses. Celebrating its centennial this year, Cal Cedar was founded in 1917 by the same family who still owns it today.
