Mika Surakka

Mika Surakka has a diverse work experience in the IT industry. Mika started their career as an Information Technology teacher at the North Karelia Municipal Education and Training Consortium in 2001. In 2002, they joined the University of Joensuu, where they worked on the development of university education and the implementation of web-based teaching and learning infrastructure. Mika also provided expert reviews and usability testing for virtual environment research laboratory systems.

In 2006, Mika joined Blancco Technology Group as a Service Engineer, providing technical support to customers worldwide. Mika later transitioned to the role of Test Engineer, where they conducted usability and functional testing for multi-language Windows applications. In 2012, they became a Technical Support Engineer, specializing in system administration and operational management of IT infrastructure. Mika was responsible for the strategic planning and evolution of IT infrastructure systems, networks, servers, and hardware solutions.

Mika continued to progress within the company and became an IT Team Lead in 2015. In this role, they managed the IT team and oversaw infrastructure services globally. Mika contributed to strategic planning and ensured the evolution of IT services. Finally, in 2018, Mika was promoted to the position of Group IT Manager. Mika analyzed business requirements, implemented innovative technologies to enhance productivity, and led a global team while managing the IT budget. Mika's expertise lies in IT infrastructure management, system administration, and strategic planning.

Mika Surakka holds an Engineer's degree in Information Technology from Karelia University of Applied Sciences. In addition, they have obtained various certifications including Information Security Management Systems (ISMS) Auditor/Lead Auditor from BSI in March 2019, Data Protection at Work, Health and Safety at Work, and The Bribery Act 2010 V5 from Virtual College Ltd. in February 2016.
