About Koodoo

Koodoo is a digital mortgage platform that helps lenders distribute and underwrite mortgages digitally. The platform today powers digital distribution for 15 of the top 20 lenders in the UK as well as comparison for major brands e.g. Compare The Market, ClearScore, Confused.com, Experian, Go.Compare, Nerdwallet amongst others.

Our mission at Koodoo is to create a world where securing the best home finance deal is transparent, seamless and empowering. We do this through helping customers understand their mortgage options on their favourite comparison sites. As a result of increasing demand for mortgage advice, in early 2023 we will use Koodoo’s platform and partnerships to launch our first charge mortgage advice service, enabling customers to search products and receive advice simultaneously.

The role

We’re looking for a highly motivated, driven, and experienced Mortgage Operations Lead. This role is pivotal in the growth of Koodoo’s advice capabilities, and you will be working directly with the UK-based Operations team to build out our Mortgage Operations process from scratch.

As we launch our advice service, it is likely that you will process most cases yourself. As we scale up and take on more team members, you will be responsible for supervising and expediting the Mortgage Operations workflow by training new team members, providing feedback on capacity levels, and suggesting improvements to the process.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage a pipeline of cases in a fast-paced environment, initially handling most cases yourself, as we scale up you will spend more time supervising the workflow
  • Own the case management operational process, including:
    • Key case details into lender portal
    • Upload customer documents to lender portal
    • Submit and track application, answering any queries or concerns
    • Liaise with third parties and provide updates to the customer about the status of their case, answer any queries and request additional documentation where needed
    • Support with the post-completion finance and reconciliation process
  • Create, review, and update operational procedures and policies for case management
  • Provide recommendations for processes handled by the UK advisor team that can be picked up by India team for greater efficiency
  • Identify areas for improvement in the broader operational process and provide recommendations for improvement
  • As the team expands, monitor performance and quality of case handling across team members
  • Build a workflow for customer re-engagement to maximise conversion through the sales funnel
  • Carry out all activities in line with Koodoo’s Conduct standards, ensuring that promoting good customer outcomes is at the forefront of your day-to-day activities. Ensure that all cases achieve high QA/conduct scores and good/excellent customer feedback

About you

The ideal candidate will have a track-record in delivering results in a fast-moving business and hence be comfortable with change and uncertainty. Excellent stakeholder management experience is essential to being successful in this role.

Required Skills:

  • You’ll have 5 years experience in Mortgage Operations (ideally familiar with UK-based regulations and documentation) with a level of seniority in your previous role
  • You’ll be knowledgeable about the key elements of mortgage operations, including advice, case management, underwriting, disbursement and collections
  • You’ll have experience of managing a team but also will not be afraid to get stuck into mortgage case management yourself
  • You’ll have experience in collecting and verifying documentation related to the mortgage process

Preferred Skills:

  • You’ll be confident in your decision making and be able to clearly articulate your rationale and reasons-why to stakeholders, both internal and external
  • You’ll have experience working in a dynamic and fast-paced dynamic environment
  • You’ll be a self-starter and independent worker but also demonstrate strong management capabilities
  • You’ll have excellent interpersonal, motivational, analytical, and oral and written communication skills
  • You’re capable of compiling, analysing, preparing and presenting reports with financial/statistical data
  • You’re proficient in the use of standard business applications in a Windows-based environment (i.e., MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook)
  • You’re able to manage a staff of 5 or more employees
