Abhijith Gopal

Abhijith Gopal has had a diverse range of work experiences throughout their career. Abhijith started in 2006 as a Developer at DeepRoot Linux, before joining Atlantis Computing in 2007 as a Developer. At Atlantis Computing, they worked on the design and development of core components for a virtualization suite, and was involved in re-architecting and prototyping the virtual machine scheduler.

In 2011, Abhijith joined Runa (Higher Order Systems) as a Senior Software Engineer. Here, they successfully ported a Clojure application stack and standardized the development environment, reducing dev-prod disparity. Abhijith also deployed and managed Hadoop, ZooKeeper, and HBase clusters on AWS using Ironfan.

In 2013, Abhijith became a McKinsey Digital Consultant at McKinsey & Company. In this role, they utilized machine learning for customer overlap analysis in merger and acquisition projects. Abhijith also gathered business requirements, formulated models, and architected the backend for an airline revenue management application.

In 2014, Abhijith joined Intrepid Online Retail Pvt Ltd (Styletag.com) as a Technical Architect. Here, they designed a micro-services based e-commerce platform and implemented it, replacing the existing system. Abhijith also identified areas lacking formal business processes and helped improve workflows.

From 2017 to 2018, Abhijith worked as a Staff Software Engineer, Infrastructure at Blippar. Here, they played a key role in improving engineering effectiveness by containerizing legacy applications, consolidating monitoring systems, introducing Kubernetes for workload consolidation, and implementing Infrastructure-as-Code using Terraform and GitOps.

Finally, in 2019, Abhijith became the Engineering Lead, Backend and Infrastructure at Blippar. Abhijith'srole here is ongoing, and they continue to utilize their expertise and leadership skills to drive backend and infrastructure development.

Abhijith Gopal completed their Bachelor of Engineering (BE) in Computer Science from Visvesvaraya Technological University, attending from 2002 to 2006. In terms of additional certifications, Abhijith obtained the certification "From Nand to Tetris" from Coursera in September 2022, and the certification "Mindshift" from Coursera in April 2017.
