Melody Mercado

Melody Mercado is an accomplished journalist with a diverse background in reporting and media relations. Currently serving as a Reporter for Block Club Chicago NFP since March 2022, Melody covers key neighborhoods including the Loop, West Loop, River North, and Gold Coast. Previously, at The Des Moines Register from August 2020 to April 2022, Melody excelled as a City Government Reporter, focusing on watchdog journalism and fostering relationships with community stakeholders. Other roles include reporting for WHO-TV, serving as a Media Relations Contractor at Tassi Communications, and interning at NBC News during the Rio 2016 Summer Olympics. Melody holds a Master's degree in Journalism from DePaul University and a Bachelor's degree in Journalism from Bradley University.
