Adam Back

CEO at Blockstream

Adam Back is the CEO of Blockstream. Adam has a long history in the security industry, starting with their work as a Research Assistant at Haldon House Research in 1998. From there they moved to Cypherspace Internet Security and then Zero Knowledge Systems before landing at Microsoft/Passport as a Security Architect in December 2002. Adam left Microsoft in November 2003 to become a Bitcoin Consultant and then co-founded PI Corporation in December 2003. Adam served as the Chief Info Sec Officer at EMC (Decho Corporation) from June 2008 to July 2010 before returning to PI Corporation as a Security Architect until they left in July 2010. In January 1992, they started working as a Cryptographic Consultant at GuardianEdge Technologies and continued to consult for them until 2008.

Adam Back was awarded a PhD in Computer Science from the University of Exeter.
