James Zimring

Chief Scientific Officer at Bloodworks Northwest

James Zimring has over 18 years of work experience in the field of research and academia. James is currently serving as the Chief Scientific Officer at BloodworksNW Research Institute since February 2016. Prior to that, they worked as a Full Member and Director of Transfusion Medicine Research at the same institute from February 2012 to June 2016. In addition, they are also a Professor at the University of Washington since 2013. Before joining BloodworksNW, James served as the Director of Graduate Studies in the Immunology and Molecular Pathogenesis Program and later as an Associate Professor at Emory University from July 2011 to June 2012. James started their career at Emory University as an Assistant Professor in 2002 and held that position until 2011.

James Zimring attended Emory University from 1988 to 1992, where they studied Chemistry. James then pursued a MD, Ph.D. from Emory University School of Medicine between 1992 and 1999, specializing in Immunology. From 2000 to 2002, James completed a Residency in Clinical Pathology and a Post-Doctoral Fellowship in Immunology, both at Emory University School of Medicine.
