Sam Nicholls

Head of Product and Tech Operations at Bloom & Wild

Sam Nicholls has a diverse work experience spanning several industries. In 2014, Sam worked as a Festival Assistant for Harrogate International Festivals, where they handled various tasks such as ticket sales, artist and venue liaison, and event promotion. Sam then joined Quill Content in 2017, initially working as a Production Editor. In this role, they developed editorial briefs, managed multiple teams of freelance writers and editors, and created project plans to meet deadlines. Sam later transitioned to the role of Freelance Lead Editor and Copywriter, where they wrote and edited content for international and UK-based brands.

In 2016, Sam joined EdTech Exchange as a Community Manager, responsible for organizing events, writing newsletters, and managing marketing campaigns. They then moved on to the BBC in 2018, starting as a Project Coordinator before becoming a Project Manager. During their time at the BBC, Sam managed teams and projects using Agile methodologies and tracked and reported on metrics to find efficiencies.

From 2020 to 2021, Sam worked at Tesco as a Product Operations Manager, engaging with multiple product teams, maintaining internal documentation, and facilitating product reviews. They also managed the quarterly prioritization process for over 80 teams.

Currently, Sam is at Bloom & Wild, where they have held multiple roles. They started in 2022 as a Senior Manager of Product Operations, establishing and improving processes within the Product & Tech organization. They then became a Product Operations Lead in 2022, leading cross-functional programs, supporting the setup of the Design Operations function, and being selected for the Mentor for Growth cohort in 2023. Currently, Sam holds the position of Head of Product and Tech Operations at Bloom & Wild.

Sam Nicholls received a Master's Degree in Anglo-Saxon, Norse and Celtic from the University of Cambridge in 2016. Prior to that, they earned a Bachelor's Degree in English Literature from Durham University, graduating in 2015. In 2013, they studied Icelandic Culture and Literature at Háskóli Íslands for a brief period. During the year 2011, they attended The Open University. Sam completed their schooling at Shrewsbury High School GDST from 2004 to 2011. Additionally, Sam obtained a certification in Agile Coaching as an ICAgile Certified Professional in March 2023.
