Derek Xu

Derek Xu is a Software Engineering Team Lead at Bloomberg, overseeing a team of engineers to enhance intraday insights into non-equity markets. With a strong foundation in software engineering, Derek previously redesigned high-traffic web pages and developed tools for testing and migrating services, while mentoring new engineers. Earlier experience includes roles as a Computer Science Instructor at Create & Learn and GoPeer, where Derek taught programming languages to high school students. Derek also worked as a Full Stack Engineer, creating web applications, and served as a Laboratory Technician at Brown University, leveraging Python and microscopy techniques for cancer research. An active leader, Derek co-founded Brown Esports, significantly growing its membership and securing funding for events. Derek holds a Bachelor's degree in Biology from Brown University.
