Andrew Sales has a diverse work experience in the field of content management and publishing. Andrew started their career as an XML Specialist at Autodata Limited, where they implemented Schematron and improved XML production processes. Andrew also worked as a Content Architect at LexisNexis UK, where they co-authored a schema for an enterprise-wide content management system and introduced Schematron schema. Additionally, Andrew worked as an XML Consultant at Nature Publishing Group, where they performed XML-to-XML conversion of journal articles using XSLT and automated unit tests. Andrew later became the Chief Content Architect at Bloomsbury Publishing Plc, leading a team in content quality assurance and strategy. Throughout their career, Andrew has also been actively involved in various roles within ISO (International Organization for Standardization) and W3C (World Wide Web Consortium), contributing to standardization efforts and community groups. Currently, they serve as a Convener for ISO/IEC JTC 1/SC 34 WG 10 and is the Head of UK Delegation for ISO/IEC JTC 1/SC 34.

Andrew Sales attended The University of Edinburgh from 1992 to 1996, where they obtained a Bachelor of Arts degree in German & Russian. Andrew then pursued further education at the University of Cambridge from 1997 to 1998, earning a Master of Philosophy degree in European Literature.
