Margaret Bartley has over 30 years of experience in the publishing industry. Margaret started their career at Palgrave Macmillan in 1987 and held various roles before becoming the Publisher for Humanities. In 2000, they joined Penguin Books as an Editor for the Penguin Classics series. Margaret then moved to Thomson Learning/Cengage Learning in 2002, where they served as the Publisher for The Arden Shakespeare. Margaret joined Bloomsbury Publishing Plc in 2009, initially as the Publisher for The Arden Shakespeare and later as the Editorial Director for The Arden Shakespeare, Drama and Performance, Classical & Literary Studies. Throughout their career, they have also worked as a Publishing Consultant for Shakespeare's Globe in London.

Margaret Bartley enrolled at the University of Cambridge in 1984 to pursue a degree in English. Margaret completed their studies in 1987. No further information about their education history is provided.
