Matthew Emery has a diverse work experience in the publishing industry. Matthew started their career as a Sales Assistant at Ottakar's plc in 2000. Matthew then worked as a Sales Representative at Palgrave Macmillan from 2001 to 2006, promoting higher education textbooks to academics and retailers.

In 2006, Matthew joined Oxford University Press where they held various roles. Matthew initially worked as the UK, ROI, and ME Higher Education Sales Manager, managing a team and achieving consistent sales growth. Matthew also took on the role of UK Library Sales Manager, expanding the team and increasing customer visits.

In 2016, Matthew joined Blackwell's Bookshops as the Head of Blackwell Learning, where they had overall responsibility for sales, marketing, product development, and publisher relations of the e-textbook platform. Matthew worked closely with institutional sales and bookshop managers and identified new customers and markets.

Since 2017, Matthew has been working at Bloomsbury Publishing Plc. Matthew initially served as the UK Academic & Professional Sales Manager, responsible for sales of academic and professional lists to UK customers. Matthew managed all channels, including retail, wholesale, library supply, and e-textbook aggregator relationships.

Currently, Matthew holds the position of Academic & Professional Sales Director for the UK & Export at Bloomsbury Publishing Plc. In this role, they have direct responsibility for UK print sales through all channels and manages the UK and Export sales team.

Throughout their career, Matthew has demonstrated strong sales and management skills, achieving growth in challenging markets and expanding sales teams.

Matthew Emery attended Queen Mary's Grammar School in Walsall from 1989 to 1996, where they completed their A Levels. Matthew then pursued higher education at the University of Exeter from 1996 to 1999, earning a Bachelor of Arts (Hons) degree in History.
