Director, Blue Health Initiatives at Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Kansas

Virginia Barnes, MPH has a diverse work experience in the public health field. Virginia started their career as a Research Assistant at the University of Kansas Medical Center in 2006. In 2007, they joined the Kansas Department of Health and Environment as a KS-EDSS Coordinator and later served as the Director of Surveillance Systems. From 2013 to 2015, Virginia worked as the Community-Clinical Linkages Director at the department. Currently, they are the Director of Blue Health Initiatives at Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Kansas, a position they have held since 2015.

Virginia Barnes, MPH, completed their education in a chronological order. In 2000, they attended Mount Holyoke College and studied Biology. However, it is unclear if they obtained a degree from this institution. Following that, from 2003 to 2006, they pursued their Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) degree in Biology at Washburn University. Finally, from 2007 to 2010, Virginia attended The University of Kansas, where they earned a Master of Public Health (MPH) degree with a specialization in Public Health.
