Gregory Harris has extensive experience in the field of psychiatry and healthcare leadership. Starting in 1993, they worked as an Instructor and Clinical Fellow at Harvard Medical School, where they also served as the Resident Representative on the Training Committee and as the Assistant Site Director for Psychopathology and Introduction to Clinical Psychiatry. In 1996, Harris became a Founding Associate at CMPA-Commonwealth Medical Psychiatric Associates, where they maintained a part-time clinical psychiatry practice until 2020.
Harris has held various leadership positions within professional organizations. Gregory served as the President of the Massachusetts Psychiatric Society from 2014-2015, leading the organization in its mission to provide support, education, advocacy, and practice development for psychiatrists in Massachusetts. Gregory was also a Member of the Health Care Systems and Finance Committee and chaired the Managed Care Committee, focusing on advocating for patients and providers and monitoring emerging healthcare trends.
In addition, Harris has been involved in healthcare policy and advisory work. Gregory served on different committees and task forces, including the Massachusetts HIT-HIE Advisory Committee, the Quality Improvement Stakeholder Work Group for MassHealth Restructuring,
Gregory Harris completed their Bachelor of Arts degree in Biology and Fine Arts at Brandeis University from 1984 to 1988. Afterward, they pursued higher education at Tufts University School of Medicine, where they obtained their MD and MPH degrees in Medicine and Public Health from 1988 to 1992.
Additionally, Gregory Harris has received several certifications throughout their career. In 1994, they obtained their MA Medical License from the Massachusetts Board of Registration in Medicine. Gregory became board-certified in Psychiatry by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology, Inc. in March 1998. In June 2020, Gregory Harris earned the designation of Certified Healthcare Insurance Executive (CHIE) from America's Health Insurance Plans (AHIP). Finally, in November 2018, they acquired an ME Medical Doctor Administrative License from the Maine Board of Licensure in Medicine.
