David Somheil

David Somheil serves as the Executive Director of Enterprise Architecture & Cloud Platforms and Executive Director of Operational Transformation at Blue Cross Blue Shield Association since May 2022. Previously, David held various senior leadership roles at UnitedHealth Group, including Senior Director of IT for Optum Care, where responsibilities included streamlining IT operations for ambulatory care clinics and leading security enhancements during mergers and acquisitions. Prior experience encompasses strategic roles at Surgical Care Affiliates and Chicago Public Schools, focusing on IT services strategy, risk management, and enterprise architecture. David began the career as a Senior Systems Technician at XCaliber Systems and progressed through various positions that contributed to diverse IT project management expertise. David holds an MBA from Indiana State University, completing studies in December 2023, and also earned a Bachelor's degree in Management Information Systems from the same institution.
