Matt Rothe

Co-Founder & Chief Technology Officer at Blue Ocean Barns

Matt Rothe has a diverse work experience spanning various industries and roles. Matt is currently the Co-Founder & Chief Technology Officer at Blue Ocean Barns, a position they have held since June 2019. Prior to that, they founded Crazy Beta Design in 2016.

Rothe has also been involved in academia, serving as the Co-Founder of FEED Collaborative & Adjunct Professor of Design at Stanford University from 2013 to December 2020. Additionally, at Stanford, they were a Fellow at the Hasso Plattner Institute of Design from 2012 to 2013.

In the corporate world, Rothe has held leadership positions in sustainable food and operations. Matt was the Executive Design Director of Speakeasy at KITCHENTOWN from May 2019 to October 2020. Matt served as the Sustainable Food Program Director at Stanford University from 2009 to 2012 and as the Director of Operations & Sustainability at Attune Foods from 2007 to 2009. Earlier in their career, they were the Director of Operations at Niman Ranch from 1999 to 2005.

Matt Rothe has a BA in Environmental Earth Science from Dartmouth College. Matt also has an MBA from Stanford University Graduate School of Business.
