Derrick Porter

Derrick Porter serves as the Lunar Training Lead at Blue Origin since August 2024, focusing on the Mission Operations training system for the Lunar Program. Prior to this role, Derrick worked at NASA from August 2013 to August 2024 in various positions related to Extravehicular Activity (EVA), including Officer and Group Lead, where significant contributions were made to strategic direction and team leadership. Derrick achieved EVA Officer certification in half the standard training time and has experience as an astronaut instructor, mission planner, and flight simulation designer for the International Space Station. Derrick's early career included internships at NASA Johnson Space Center and Bell Helicopter, contributing to projects in space suit systems, robotics, and rotor dynamics. Derrick holds a Bachelor of Science in Aerospace Engineering from The University of Texas at Austin.
