Mariko Burgin

Mariko Burgin is a highly experienced professional in the field of space resources and engineering, currently serving as a Senior Technical Manager in the Space Resources Program at BLUE ORIGIN since March 2024. Prior to this role, Mariko held various positions at NASA Jet Propulsion Laboratory from January 2016 to March 2024, including Mars Sample Return Program Break The Chain Domain Lead, where responsibilities included ensuring the technical success of engineering systems for the return of Mars material. Mariko's extensive background includes leadership in advanced concept studies, technology development for Mars reconnaissance, and significant contributions to NASA missions focusing on Earth and Mars. Academic credentials include a Ph.D. and MSc in Electrical Engineering from the University of Michigan and an MSc in Electrical Engineering and Information Technology from ETH Zürich.
