Sr. Director Of Systems Engineering On New Glenn Launch Vehicle at Blue Origin

Michael Burghardt serves as the Senior Director of Systems Engineering for the New Glenn launch vehicle at Blue Origin since June 2020, where leadership encompasses the Systems Engineering, Integration and Test (SEIT) team, focusing on various engineering functions for the New Glenn Program. Previous experience includes significant roles at Boeing from 2003 to 2020, notably as Chief Architect and Chief Engineer for the Lunar Lander Program supporting NASA's Artemis Program, where system requirements and risk assessments were developed. Additional leadership positions at Boeing include directing commercial crew transportation systems and operations for the Space Shuttle Orbiter, overseeing substantial engineering teams and budgets. Burghardt's career began at United Space Alliance managing propulsion and power systems, and Michael held engineering roles at Boeing beginning in 1992. Educational accomplishments include a B.S. in Aeronautical & Astronautical Engineering from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign and further studies at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University.
