Sam Owens

Sam Owens is an accomplished engineering professional with a diverse background in systems engineering and propulsion. Currently serving as the Director of Systems Engineering for Engine Test and Flight Operations at Blue Origin since May 2021, Sam also holds the position of Engines IPT Lead, overseeing verification, test, and flight activities. Prior experience includes a role as Propulsion Test Lead at Boeing from September 2018 to May 2021, and Systems Test Manager at Sound Transit from January 2018 to September 2018. Sam's career at Rolls-Royce spanned from September 2010 to January 2018, where responsibilities included Flight Test Manager, Systems Engineering and Development Technical Lead, and Flight Test Engineer, among others. Sam's engineering foundation was established with a Master of Engineering (MEng) in Engineering Design / Mechanical Engineering from the University of Bristol, complemented by an A-Level education in Maths, Physics, Electronics, and Further Maths at S. Peters Collegiate School.
