April Richardson

April Richardson is a seasoned psychiatric professional with extensive experience in clinical leadership and private practice. Currently serving as Vice President of Clinical Services at BlueCross BlueShield of South Carolina since April 2015, April also holds the roles of Vice President and Chief Operating Officer and Medical Director at Companion Benefit Alternatives, overseeing behavioral health care and specialty case management for renal and oncology patients. In addition to these positions, April runs a private practice specializing in adult and child psychiatry, as well as forensic evaluations. Previous roles include Staff Psychiatrist at the Carolina Center for Behavioral Health and Adult Psychiatry Hospitalist at SpringBrook Behavioral Health. April completed a psychiatry residency at Palmetto Health and earned an MD from Michigan State University College of Human Medicine, following a BS in Microbiology from the University of Michigan.
