BlueMX is Mexico's leading blue carbon project, working at the intersection of climate action, community empowerment, and ecological restoration along Mexico's coastal wetlands.

Named U' Balam'Moo A'Kalche — "The Jaguar of the Wetlands" — by the Indigenous communities we work with, BlueMX is revitalizing one of the planet's most powerful carbon sinks: mangrove ecosystems. Mangroves sequester carbon at rates far exceeding terrestrial forests, and Mexico holds some of the most biodiverse and threatened stands in the world. We're here to protect and restore them.

Our Aztllan Blue Carbon Project spans over 100,000 hectares of mangroves and coastal wetlands. To date, we've reopened 45 kilometres of tidal channels, removed over 18,000 cubic metres of silt, and planted hundreds of thousands of mangrove seedlings. We're on track to sequester more than 8.6 million tonnes of CO₂ over our 28-year crediting period — verified under the Verified Carbon Standard (VCS).

But we measure our impact in more than carbon. We've enrolled 300+ community members in social security for the first time. We've brought mobile health clinics to remote villages. We've identified 600+ species within our project boundaries — over 100 of them at risk of extinction. And we deliver 88.7% of project funding directly into Mexican communities and organisations.

We are ecologists, GIS specialists, community liaisons, carbon accountants, policy advocates, and storytellers. We work in mangrove forests at dawn and in spreadsheets late at night. We move between science and culture, between global carbon markets and local ejidos.

If you want your career to mean something — if you want to spend your days doing work that will still matter in 2050 — join us.
