Waqas Munir Frm

Waqas Munir, FRM has a diverse range of work experience in the finance industry. Waqas has held various roles in different companies over the years. Waqas started their career as a Senior Financial Analyst at Pakistan Credit Rating Agency (PACRA) in 2008, where they performed fundamental credit analysis and prepared rating reports. Waqas then joined Askari Bank as a Senior Risk Analyst, where they developed a comprehensive risk registry and led the development of risk pricing and limits.

In 2012, Waqas Munir joined JCR-VIS Credit Rating Company Ltd. as a Senior Manager and a voting member of the Rating Committee. In this role, they led credit rating assignments, conducted on-site due diligence meetings, and advised clients on process improvements. Waqas stayed with the company until 2018.

During their time at JCR-VIS, Waqas Munir also served as a Humphrey Fellow at Boston University in 2017. Waqas was selected as a distinguished mid-career professional for this prestigious Fulbright program by the U.S. State Department.

In 2018, Waqas Munir joined Accion as an Affiliate, where they evaluated and provided feedback on Accion's impact measurement framework. Waqas researched industry frameworks and impact indicators for FinTech and other technology-enabled players in the financial inclusion space.

Waqas later joined Allied Bank Limited in 2019 as a Senior Consultant under a DFID funded project. Their responsibilities included leading the development of an innovative cashflow-based lending model for Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) and advising the bank on project management and product implementation.

In 2020, Waqas Munir joined BlueOrchard Finance Ltd as a Senior Investment Rating and Risk Specialist. In this role, they collaborated with investment teams to define investment risk and customize rating methodologies. Waqas also provided credit risk assessments and training to portfolio managers.

Prior to their current role, Waqas Munir was a Non-Resident Research Scholar at the Global Development Policy Center (GDP Center). Waqas led policy-oriented research on financial stability, human well-being, and environmental sustainability.

In 2006, they pursued further education at Alliance Manchester Business School, where they obtained a Master's Degree in Finance, General in 2007. In 2010, Waqas Munir enrolled in the Global Association of Risk Professionals (GARP), completing a Financial Risk Manager certification in 2011. Continuing their academic pursuits, they attended The London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE) in 2005 for a Summer School program focusing on Business analysis & valuation, and Entrepreneurship. Most recently, Waqas Munir completed the Hubert H. Humphrey Fellowship program at the Questrom School of Business, Boston University in 2018, specializing in Banking and Finance.
