Mark Tomishima

Senior Vice President at BlueRock Therapeutics

Mark Tomishima has a diverse work experience in the field of stem cell research and regenerative medicine. Mark has held various roles in different organizations throughout their career. From 1994 to 1996, they worked as a Research Technician at The Scripps Research Institute. In 1996, they joined Princeton University as a Graduate Student, where they earned their Ph.D. In 2002, they joined MSKCC as a Postdoctoral Fellow in Lorenz Studer's laboratory, focusing on genetic modification of pluripotent stem cells. Mark later became the Head of SKI Stem Cell Research Facility at MSKCC, overseeing various services provided to the stem cell community. In 2009, Mark co-founded COREdinates, a consortium of core facilities focused on human pluripotent stem cells. Mark served as the Past President and was involved in knowledge sharing and collaborations within the stem cell community. In 2015, they joined the Connecticut Regenerative Medicine Research Advisory Committee as a Committee Member. Finally, in 2017, Mark joined BlueRock Therapeutics, where they held various positions including Sr. Director, CNS Bioprocess, Executive Director, Genome Engineering & Discovery Biology, and currently serves as the Vice President of Platform Discovery.

Mark Tomishima earned their Ph.D. in Molecular Biology from Princeton University in the years 1996 to 2002. Prior to that, they obtained their B.S. in Biology from San Diego State University from 1988 to 1994. Additionally, Mark holds certifications as a BD Certified FACS Aria Operator and as cGMP Gowning Certified, although details regarding the institutions and dates of completion are not provided.
