Connell Zhang

Connell Zhang is the Chief Executive of NS BlueScope at BlueScope. Connell has over 20 years of experience in leadership roles in the Asia-Pacific region.

Connell began their career as an Area Sales Manager for Avesta Sheffield Trading Ltd. in North China. In 2000, they became a Summer Associate for GE Capital and then a Global Market Analyst for BOC South Pacific. Connell held various positions at BOC South Pacific until they became the company's Strategic Planning Manager in 2003.

In 2005, Connell left BOC South Pacific to become the Senior Business Development Director for hubbell power systems. Connell was promoted to Managing Director of Asia for the company in 2008. Connell left hubbell power systems in 2011 to join The Linde Group as the Tonnage Business Head for Greater China.

In September 2016, Connell was promoted to Country Head of Malaysia for The Linde Group. Connell became the Managing Director of Malaysia, Singapore and Indonesia for The Linde Group in March 2017 and held this position until April 2018.

Connell joined BlueScope in April 2018 as the Chief Executive of NS BlueScope.

Connell Zhang attended Renmin University of China for their undergraduate degree and then went on to earn their Master of Business Administration from Yale School of Management.

Their manager is Mark Vassella, Managing Director & CEO. They work with Gretta Stephens - Chief Executive New Zealand & Pacific Islands, Andrew Garey - Chief Strategy & Transformation Officer, and Pat Finan - Chief Executive Hot Rolled Products North America.
