David Hughes

David Hughes is an accomplished professional with extensive experience in operations engineering and logistics management. Currently serving as a Senior Process Operations Engineer at BlueScope Steel since August 2002, David is instrumental in optimizing fuel and utility sourcing decisions to align with business strategy and enhance profitability. Previously, as Chief Executive Officer at Unity Plant Services Pty Ltd from July 1999 to June 2001, David successfully expanded mobile equipment hire services while managing partner relations and operational practices. Earlier career experience includes the role of Logistics Operations Superintendent at BHP Illawarra Collieries from August 1993 to July 1999, where David designed a material requirements planning system that significantly improved logistics efficiency for coal operations.
