Marlene Kerwin

VP, Corporate Services & CFO at Bluewater Health

As Vice-President, Corporate Services and Chief Financial Officer, Marlene Kerwin is responsible for a diverse portfolio including Finance and Decision Support, Supply Chain, Facilities and Support Services and Health Records, Patient Registration and Privacy.

Marlene joined Bluewater Health in 2001 as a Senior Financial Analyst, and became Director of Finance in 2006. She continued to take on leadership responsibilities during her time at Bluewater Health, adding Supply Chain & Decision Support in 2014 and the role of Chief Financial Officer (CFO) in 2016. Marlene is currently a member of the Resource Utilization and Audit Committee. She holds an Honours Bachelor degree in Business Administration from Wilfrid Laurier University and holds the designation of Chartered Accountant (CA) and Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA). She also holds a certificate in LEADS in a Caring Environment and completed the Health Care Management and Leadership Development Program at Lambton College. Marlene was born and raised in Sarnia.

Most recently, Marlene has been leading Finance, Decision Support, Payroll, Accounts Receivable, and Supply Chain Distribution in addition to her responsibility as CFO, providing strategic direction to the organization through performance monitoring of clinical and financial activities. She has led continuous improvements in budget development, forecasting, Ministry reporting and overall hospital performance monitoring. Under her leadership, corporate and program scorecards have been integrated into the organization, aligned with the hospital’s strategic priorities. During the pandemic, Marlene provided leadership in monitoring utilization of personal protective equipment (PPE) and employing procurement strategies to ensure the safety of patients, staff and Professional Staff. Marlene has proven herself as an innovative leader with visionary thinking. She also co-chairs the Sarnia-Lambton Ontario Health Team (SL OHT) Data Analytics and Performance Committee.

In addition to her work at the hospital, Marlene is an active community member. She is the current Chair of Theatre Sarnia’s Board of Directors which owns and operates the Imperial Theatre and she is also a member of the St. Clair Catholic District School Board Audit Committee. She has served as Treasurer and Vice President of the Alzheimer Society of Sarnia-Lambton and as Treasurer for Big Sisters of Sarnia-Lambton.
