James Roundell has held various roles in the technology sector since 1998. James began their career as an Applications Developer at Nortel, where they researched and developed hardware choices and layout for new products. In 2001, they founded and managed Solution Troisieme Personne. From 2005 to 2014, they were the Director of Enterprise Architecture at Saks Fifth Avenue, where they led cross-department adoption of technologies, budget decision and tracking responsibilities. James also overhauled the site's entire navigation system (browse and search) away from a CMS, adopting the Endeca search engine. From 2011 to 2013, they were a Student Case Worker at Parkdale Community Legal Services, representing urban low-income clients in matters of housing, social assistance, employment, human rights, etc. and appearing at boards, tribunals and in court on their behalf. From 2014 to 2021, they were the Director of Application Development at Hudson's Bay Company, managing software engineering teams developing the websites for Saks Fifth Avenue, Lord & Taylor, The Bay/La Baie and Saks Off Fifth. James built a new team from scratch, including hiring and training an entire development team and integrating them into the company. Currently, they are a Data Platform & ML Designer at BluWave-ai.
James Roundell obtained a B.Eng in Computer Engineering from McGill University between 1996 and 2001. James then went on to obtain a JD in Law from York University - Osgoode Hall Law School between 2010 and 2013. In addition, they have obtained a number of certifications from Coursera and HackerRank, including Neural Networks and Deep Learning (May 2021), Big Data Analysis with Scala and Spark (November 2020), Functional Program Design in Scala (October 2020), Parallel programming (October 2020), Python (Basic) (September 2020), and Functional Programming Principles in Scala (August 2020).
