Bill Whitney

President & CEO at BMI Imaging Systems

Bill first worked at BMI in the document production area, microfilming county land records and newspapers during high school vacations. After graduating from the University of California at Santa Barbara with his Bachelor’s Degree in English, he returned to BMI in the position of Assistant Production Manager. Working with contracted consultants in automating the production process, Bill was involved in all aspects of Production and Quality Control. Moving first into Sales in 1978 and then Sales Management in 1982, he became the Company’s President in 1987, succeeding his father, one of the founders of Bay Microfilm, Inc (BMI).

Bill has worked with the local chapters of AIIM and ARMA leading classes in specialized records management and document handling technique. Bill has successfully navigated several major technology shifts as the document management industry has progressed from microfilm into a high-performance digital world. During his tenure as President, BMI has acquired three document imaging companies, opened a branch in Sacramento and launched a national product line. Born in 1950, Bill lives with his wife of 30 years, April, in Los Altos Hills. He has two children, Hillary and Will, who both work at BMI.
