Edward Achtner

Edward Achtner is a seasoned executive with extensive experience in the banking and artificial intelligence sectors. Currently serving as Vice President and Head of Applied Artificial Intelligence at BMO since May 2025, Edward leads a team focused on developing world-class AI products to enhance business and client experiences. Previously, from August 2021 to February 2025, Edward was Group Head of Generative Artificial Intelligence Capabilities at HSBC, where responsibility included leading teams to create ethical AI solutions. Edward also founded the Office of Applied Artificial Intelligence at HSBC in July 2023 and held significant roles that emphasized digital architecture and consumer banking strategies at Bank of America, where leadership spanned diverse banking operations and digital innovation. Edward's academic credentials include a JD/MBA from American University and a JD from American University Washington College of Law.
