Marina Nielsen has had a varied work experience. From 2010 to 2022, they were the Chief Executive Officer, Vice President, and Freelance Translator at BMT Micro in Wilmington NC, USA. From 2022 to present, they have been a Content Creator at Welocalize. From 2000 to present, they have been a Freelance Translator at PMView. From 1999 to present, they have been a Lecturer of French language and culture at Åbo Akademi University, teaching French language syntax, grammar, and Swedish-French-Swedish translation of literary and non-literary text. Marina has also been an Associate Professor at the same university, in charge of the general administration of the Department of French. From 1997 to present, they have been a Teacher of French at Turun ammattikorkeakoulu, teaching a basic course of French 2-4 hours a week.

Marina Nielsen has an extensive education history. Marina obtained their Doctor of General and Applied Linguistics from Université Paris III - la Sorbonne Nouvelle in 2000, after completing a Diplôme d'Études Approfondies in French Language and Literature from Université de Pau et des Pays de l'Adour in 1997. Marina then went on to earn their F.L. (post-graduate degree) in Romance Languages, Literatures, and Linguistics from Åbo Akademi University in 1995-1998, followed by their Master of Arts (M.A.) in the same field from Åbo Akademi University in 1991-1995. In 2003-2004, they obtained their Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in French Language and Literature from Åbo Akademi University, and also completed continued education in Organizational Leadership and Academic research mentoring at the same institution. In 1999, they completed continued education in Secondary Education and Teaching at Åbo Akademi University. Additionally, Marina Nielsen holds several certifications, including College & Career Readiness Training Certification from the University of Vermont Education and Social Services (2022), Certified tutor of ESOL (English for Speakers of Other Languages) for Distance Learning from the Cape Fear Literacy Council (2021), Effective Presentations in English from Åbo Akademi University (2001), and Public speaking and performance from Åbo Akademi University (1999).
