Richard Barwell

Richard Barwell is the Head of Macro Research and Investment Strategy at BNP Paribas Asset Management since September 2015, leading a team of economists and strategists to deliver high-conviction macro calls and trade recommendations across asset classes and geographies. Previously, Richard served as Head of Macro Research, overseeing macro theme analyses and publications, and as a Senior Economist, focusing on market-relevant economic themes. Prior experience includes roles as Senior European Economist at RBS Markets & International Banking, Senior UK Economist at RBS Global Banking & Markets, and a decade at the Bank of England, where responsibilities ranged from macroprudential policy analysis to preparing forecasts for the Monetary Policy Committee. Richard Barwell holds a Ph.D. in Labour Economics and an MSc in Mathematical Economics and Econometrics, both from The London School of Economics and Political Science.
