Fabian Heinemann began their work experience in 2005 as a lab scientist and PhD researcher at Universität Bremen, where they developed a force sensor for understanding the motion of crawling cells. Fabian then served as a postdoctoral researcher at Schwille Lab, BIOTEC, TU Dresden, working on synthetic biology and biophysical methods. Fabian was also a Postdoc at the Max Planck Institute for Biochemistry.

In 2013, Heinemann joined Roche Diagnostics as a Data Scientist, specializing in machine learning and natural language processing tasks. Fabian then moved to Boehringer Ingelheim in 2017, where they held various roles, including Principal Scientist, Head of Biomedical AI lab, and currently as the Head of Central Data Science EMEA and Chapter Lead IT Data Science. At Boehringer Ingelheim, they led a team of data scientists and machine learning engineers, exploring and developing machine learning projects for all corporate areas.

Heinemann's expertise lies in deep learning, computer vision, and quantitative histopathology in pharmaceutical research. Fabian has published research papers and has extensive experience in Python, TensorFlow, and Matlab.

Fabian Heinemann obtained their Dr. rer. nat. degree in Physics from the University of Bremen from 2005 to 2008. Prior to that, they completed their Diploma in Physics at the same university from 1999 to 2005. Fabian also has various certifications in subjects like generative AI, deep neural networks, genomic technologies, image and video processing, practical machine learning, and machine learning. These certifications were obtained from Coursera and Stanford University between 2014 and 2023.
