Emily Travis

Emily Travis has extensive experience in mechanical engineering, holding a Bachelor of Science and a Master of Science from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University, both with distinguished GPAs. As a Graduate Research Assistant at DREAMS Lab, Virginia Tech, Emily developed a heat transfer model and measured thermal conductivity of photopolymers. Previous roles include a Sustainability Intern at Owens Corning, a Graduate Teaching Assistant at the College of Engineering, Virginia Tech, an Engineering Technician Summer Intern at Naval Surface Warfare Center, and a Mechanical/Structural Design Engineer at Boeing, where Emily focused on production processes and additive manufacturing. Additional experience includes an internship at the Smithsonian Institution and GE Hitachi Nuclear, contributing to engineering research and reactor modifications, respectively.
