Linda Hapgood is the vice president and program manager of Digital Transformation. In this role, she leads a dedicated Integrated Product Team that has responsibility and enterprise authority for the digital preparation supporting Boeing Commercial Aircraft’s next development program. The goal is to create a digital environment where the next new product and production system can be designed together, linked through one source of definitive design data, leveraging industry data standards to link together a digital thread that connects our design, test, certification, build and support.
Previously, Linda was vice president for Design Practices, Processes and Tools, leading the development and implementation of digital engineering to help transform Boeing’s global engineering to model-based digital engineering design and lifecycle support for future programs.
Prior to this, Linda was the chief operating officer for Initium, a Joint Venture between Boeing and Safran. Where she led the comprehensive digital strategy.
Linda’s experience also includes working as the chief engineer of Airplane Systems for both the 767 and 747 airplane programs in Everett, Washington where she led step change innovations in manufacturing, such as the first use of augmented reality glasses for Boeing electricians installing complex wiring in the aircraft fuselage.
During her 20-year Boeing career, Linda has brought a passion for people and technology to every role, bringing teams together from diverse disciplines and empowering them to problem solve through tough challenges, and innovate to connect, protect and explore the world.
Linda has a Bachelor of Engineering degree in Aerospace Avionics from the University of Queensland in Brisbane, Australia. In 2011, she earned a Master of Business degree in Technology Management from the University of Washington Foster School of Business. She is also a United States Patent holder for her work in Methods & Systems for Managing (Airplane) Computer System Configuration Data. In 2014, she was named as one of Aviation Week’s “Top 40 Under 40” rising stars in the Aerospace and Defense Industry.
