Mike Bunker is vice president and general manager (interim) of Boeing Fabrication and vice president of Fabrication’s Composites team. Fabrication is a global operation of manufacturing sites and more than 16,000 employees producing components for Boeing Commercial Airplanes, Boeing Defense, Space & Security and Boeing Global Services.

Named to his Composites role in Dec. 2018, Bunker is responsible for strategy and operations of Fabrication composites production at several factories employing more than 4,100 teammates. He oversees the manufacturing business units Advanced Development Composites and Composites Manufacturing Center (Washington State), Boeing Aerostructures Australia (Melbourne, Australia), Boeing Salt Lake (Utah) and Boeing Canada Winnipeg (Manitoba, Canada).

Bunker previously was managing director of Boeing Aerostructures Australia (BAA), a facility with 1,100 employees who design and produce components for the 787 Dreamliner and other Boeing commercial models. BAA capabilities include research and development, design, test, fabrication and assembly of components using advanced composite materials. Primarily a producer of flight control surfaces, BAA is the sole supplier of the 787 moveable trailing edge, 737 aileron, 747 moveable leading edge and 777 cove lip door, elevator and rudder.

From 2006 through 2018, including his tenure at BAA, Bunker served in roles supporting 787 production. He was director of 787 Aftbody Operations for Boeing South Carolina (BSC), managing production for composite fabrication and assembly of aftbody fuselage components, and was the first Boeing leader assigned to Global Aeronautica, then a partner joint venture for the Dreamliner program. Bunker also served as director of Assembly & Integration for BSC, overseeing assembly and integration of 787 mid and aft fuselage components, and director of 787 Midbody Operations.
