Paul Toivonen

Paul Toivonen is a Technical Fellow currently working at Boeing, focusing on emerging technologies in metal additive manufacturing and computational materials for qualification and certification. With over four decades of experience in aerospace, Paul has significantly contributed to structural integrity and airworthiness assurance in various roles at companies like Spirit AeroSystems, Lockheed Martin, and McDonnell Douglas. They earned a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering Design and an M.S. in Engineering Mechanics from Michigan Technological University. Paul is recognized for leading critical advancements, including the certification of the first significant metal AM part for civil aviation. Additionally, they have been actively involved in collaborative industry efforts, serving in key advisory roles within influential standards organizations.
