Bureau of Ocean Energy Management
Alicia Caporaso is an experienced marine archeologist with a significant background in archaeological research and education. Currently serving at the Bureau of Ocean Energy Management, Regulation, and Enforcement since October 2012, Alicia has previously held roles such as Fieldschool Director at the Saint Eustatius Center for Archaeological Research for a brief period in 2012, where responsibilities included designing and managing a field school focused on a 1740s sugar plantation. Additionally, Alicia worked as a Cultural Resource Specialist/Environmental Protection Specialist for the National Park Service from September 2010 to August 2011, where involvement included ensuring compliance with environmental and historical preservation regulations. As a Ph.D. candidate at the University of Rhode Island from 2004 to 2011, Alicia conducted archaeological site management and participated in oceanographic research, complementing an MA in Anthropology obtained from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln between 2001 and 2004.

The Bureau of Ocean Energy Management, a bureau in the U.S. Department of the Interior, is the Federal agency that manages the nation's natural gas, oil and other mineral resources, and the development of offshore renewable energy on the outer continental shelf (OCS). The program is national in scope and is headquartered in Washington, D.C. Regional offices are located in New Orleans, Louisiana.; Camarillo, California, northwest of Los Angeles; and Anchorage, Alaska.
