Bureau of Ocean Energy Management
Drew Remsen is an experienced oceanographer currently working at the Bureau of Ocean Energy Management since December 2019. Prior to this role, Drew served as Technical Manager for the Shell Ocean Discovery XPrize at XPRIZE from August 2017 to September 2019, managing the competition's technical and operational aspects to advance deep-sea exploration technologies. Drew's background includes a position as Senior Environmental Scientist at Pegasus Technical Services, focusing on aquatic ecology and providing technical support to the EPA. Additionally, Drew worked as an Independent Contractor Research Scientist at Industrial Economics, Incorporated, contributing to NOAA's scientific support during the Deepwater Horizon oil spill. As a Scientific Researcher at the University of South Florida, Drew led teams in developing aquatic sensor systems and conducting extensive field research. Drew holds a Ph.D. in Biological Oceanography from the University of South Florida and a B.S. in Zoology from the University of Wisconsin-Madison.

The Bureau of Ocean Energy Management, a bureau in the U.S. Department of the Interior, is the Federal agency that manages the nation's natural gas, oil and other mineral resources, and the development of offshore renewable energy on the outer continental shelf (OCS). The program is national in scope and is headquartered in Washington, D.C. Regional offices are located in New Orleans, Louisiana.; Camarillo, California, northwest of Los Angeles; and Anchorage, Alaska.
