Johan Aps

Johan Aps has a diverse work experience. Johan currently holds the position of Sr Program & Project Manager at Vrije Universiteit Brussel since April 2022. Johan also works as a Scientific Collaborator at the same university since January 2021. Additionally, Johan serves as the Editor In Chief for Bohn Stafleu van Loghum, specializing in local anesthesia in dentistry. Johan started this role in April 2022. Prior to these positions, Johan worked as a Scientific Collaborator at Universitair Medisch Centrum Groningen since July 2021. Johan also owns and operates OpiniDent, a company that provides dental advice and opinions to various stakeholders. Johan is a freelance author for Dental Tribune The Netherlands & Belgium and has been since January 2021. Johan has also presented at various international conferences. Johan worked as a researcher at Arteveldehogeschool from January 2021 to April 2022. From 2014 to May 2021, they served as an Associate Editor for the DMFR Journal at The British Institute of Radiology. Prior to that, they were an Associate Professor at The University of Western Australia from January 2018 to December 2020.

Johan Aps began their education at Onze Lieve Vrouw van Lourdes College Edegem in 1982 and completed their studies there in 1988. Afterward, they attended the University of Antwerp from 1988 to 1990 to pursue a Bachelor's degree in Dentistry. In 1990, they enrolled at Ghent University and obtained a DDS, MSc, and PhD in Paediatric Dentistry/Paedodontics in 2012. During this period, they also obtained two additional Master of Science degrees in Dentistry and a PhD. Additionally, from 2005 to 2008, Johan attended the University of London, where they earned a Master of Science in Dental and Maxillofacial Radiology.
