Zak Hussain

Zak Hussain has a strong background in platform engineering and DevOps. Zak currently holds the position of Head of Platform Engineering at Bondsmith, starting in 2023. Prior to this, they worked at Y TREE from 2019 to 2022, where they also served as Head of Platform Engineering and Head of DevOps. At Y TREE, they led the platform and DevOps/SRE space, focusing on hands-on technical work and team management. Zak'sresponsibilities included managing Kubernetes clusters, implementing SRE functions, improving cost efficiency, building a security platform, and implementing APM solutions for microservices. Prior to Y TREE, Zak worked at Yopa Property from 2016 to 2019, where they were the first DevOps/SRE engineer and helped transform the digital estate agency platform. Zak played a key role in building a resilient, scalable, and secured platform and led various initiatives such as building a containerized environment, improving AWS infrastructure security, implementing infrastructure as code, and establishing a solid developer support process. Before Yopa Property, Zak worked at Bridgeman Images from 2013 to 2016, starting as a DevOps Engineer/Linux System Administrator and eventually becoming the Lead DevOps Engineer. At Bridgeman Images, they focused on automation, infrastructure, and cloud platforms, using tools such as Ansible and Terraform.

Zak Hussain completed their Bachelor of Science (BSc) in Computer Systems & Networking from the University of Greenwich, where they studied Linux, Networking, Enterprise Server Management and Security, and Penetration test. During this time, they also obtained a certification as a Cisco Certified Network Associate from London Metropolitan University, where they learned about TCP/IP, Routing Protocols, VLAN, OSI Model, DHCP, DNS, IP Addressing, LAN/WAN Design, and Switching. Additionally, Zak has obtained certifications in CCNA from Cisco and Jenkins and Build Automation from LinuxAcademy.com, although the specific months and years of obtaining these certifications are not provided.
