Derek Hillstrom

Derek Hillstrom has extensive experience in engineering and operations management. From 2021 to present, they have served as a Product Development Consultant at Concis Engineering. From 2017 to 2021, they were VP of Engineering at Sonitus Technologies Inc., where they were responsible for developing next-generation wireless devices using NFMI technology, managing the engineering team, and transferring production to a contract manufacturer. From 2016 to 2017, they were Director of R&D and Operations at Niveus Medical, managing the operations and development teams and developing a next generation muscle stimulation controller. From 2011 to 2016, they were Sr Operations Manager at Autonomic Technologies, where they were responsible for day-to-day operations manufacturing a Class III active implantable medical device, the associated handheld remote controller, and surgical tools. From 2001 to 2011, they were R&D Program Manager at SJM, where they were Project Lead for development of a next-generation RF catheter generator. In 2019, they served as VP of Engineering at Bone Health Technologies.

Derek Hillstrom attended the University of Missouri Rolla from 1993 to 1997, where they earned a Bachelor of Science in Aerospace, Aeronautical and Astronautical Engineering. Derek then went on to Wichita State University from 1998 to 1999, where they earned a Certificate in Management.
