Tom McDonald

EVP of Compliance, Audit & Risk Management at Bonneville Power Administration

Tom McDonald was named the executive vice president of Compliance, Audit and Risk in October 2017. In this role he oversees BPA’s Compliance and Governance; Risk Management and Internal Audit functions. Before being named the permanent executive vice president, McDonald filled this role in an acting capacity since January 2016.

McDonald, who joined BPA in 2007, has served as executive vice president of Compliance, Audit, Risk and EEO since October 2017. In this role he oversees BPA’s compliance and governance, risk management, internal audit, and civil rights and Equal Employment Opportunity functions. Before being named the permanent executive vice president, McDonald filled this role in an acting capacity since January 2016.

McDonald has more than 20 years of experience leading and managing complex and highly-regulated compliance and governance programs. He served as BPA’s chief compliance officer and oversaw compliance with Federal Energy Regulatory Commission policies and North American Electric Reliability Corporation standards; governance and internal control of the agency’s compliance with applicable regulatory rules and standards; purchasing and property governance; and ethics. Previously, he worked in various roles within BPA’s internal controls, governance, risk and compliance functions.

Before joining BPA, McDonald worked for Arthur Andersen & Co., a multi-national accounting firm, as a senior auditor; and for Engraph, Inc., a manufacturer of printed packaging, as a plant manager. He earned a Bachelor of Science in Accounting from Bob Jones University in 1986.
