Bernice Gaffney

Bernice Gaffney has a diverse work experience spanning various roles and industries. Bernice is currently a Member of the Audit Risk and Governance Committee at HIQA - Health Information and Quality Authority since January 2023. Prior to this, they served as the Head of Internal Audit at Bord na Móna starting in 2021. From 2017 to 2021, they worked at Flutter Entertainment Plc as a Business Audit Manager.

Before that, Bernice held multiple positions at Bord na Móna, including Interim Head of Internal Audit, Lead Internal Auditor, and Senior Internal Auditor, from 2014 to 2017. Bernice'searlier career includes a role as an Audit Senior at Smith and Williamson from 2013 to 2014, and as a Senior Accountant and Auditor at Bagnall Molloy and Company from 2008 to 2013. Bernice started their career as a Project Co-ordinator & Instructor at Kildare International Equestrian Centre from 2006 to 2008.

Bernice Gaffney's education history includes a Bachelor's Degree (Joint honours) in Finance and Economics from the National University of Ireland, Maynooth, which they obtained from 2004 to 2007. Bernice further pursued their professional qualifications by completing the Professional Accountancy Examinations: Certified Public Accountant at Griffith College Dublin from 2008 to 2011. In 2014 to 2015, they obtained a Diploma in Internal Audit from the Chartered Institute of Internal Auditors, and in 2016, they became a Certified Internal Auditor from the same institute. In 2017, Bernice pursued a Dipolma in Risk Management, Internal Audit and Compliance from Chartered Accountants Ireland and a Certificate of the Business Continuity Institute (CBCI) from The Business Continuity Institute. Bernice'sfield of study throughout their education includes finance, economics, accounting, risk management, internal audit, and business continuity.
