Fernando de Frutos, PhD, CFA has a diverse work experience spanning over 25 years. Fernando currently serves as the Chief Investment Officer at Boreal Capital Management since January 2015. Prior to this, they worked as a Senior Manager in Strategy Financial Services Industry at Monitor Deloitte from March 2012 to December 2014. Fernando also held various roles at ABN AMRO Bank N.V., including Head of Investment Products & Investment Advisory from July 2010 to December 2011, Head of Investment Office from April 2007 to June 2010, and Senior Manager in Structured Products from July 2006 to March 2007. Prior to their time at ABN AMRO, they served as Deputy Manager in Structured Products at Credit Suisse's Clariden Bank from August 2004 to July 2006. Fernando also worked as a Portfolio Manager at BBVA from September 2000 to July 2004. Earlier in their career, they were a Software Engineer at Meta4 from June 1996 to July 1998 and a Physics Faculty Research Assistant at Universidad Complutense de Madrid from September 1994 to September 1995.

Fernando de Frutos, PhD, CFA obtained a Licentiate degree in Physics from Universidad Complutense de Madrid in 1995. Fernando also earned a Bachelor's degree in Mathematics from Universidad Nacional de Educación a Distancia - U.N.E.D. between 1992 and 1997. In 2000, they completed a Master en Mercados Financieros from Escuela de Finanzas BBVA. Fernando then pursued an MBA at IMD from 2008 to 2009. Finally, they received a PhD in International Relations and Political Economy from the University of St.Gallen in 2015. Additionally, Fernando has obtained certifications as a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) from the CFA Institute and holds Series 24 and Series 7 certifications from FINRA.
