Dylan Baxter, P.Eng

Dylan Baxter, P.Eng has a diverse work experience. From 2007 to 2009, they worked as a Maintenance Technician at Rivershore Golf Links and a Mechanic Assistant at Kal Tire. In 2014, they began working at Borealis Wind as a Technical Development Engineering. From 2016 to 2017, they were a Graduate Research Assistant, Research Assistant, and Teaching Assistant at The University of British Columbia. In 2017, they were a GAMM Conference Moderator and Student Assistant at Technical University Munich. In 2018, they held the roles of Director of Operations, Mechanical Engineering Manager, and Simulation and Mechanical Design at Borealis Wind. In 2015, they were a Research Assistant at Technische Universität Berlin, where they assisted in the completion of a five year PhD thesis project regarding the development of Hydropneumatic Suspension Systems for agricultural tractors. Dylan created a 149 element, multi-body simulation of a tractor to observe how adjusting physical constants of the hydropneumatic force equation affects the tractor’s vibrational response to 6 different ground profiles. Dylan overcame software limitations by using co-simulation between Simpack and Matlab, allowing the simulation to successfully replicate discontinuous inputs and the unique nonlinear physical response of the suspension system. Dylan submitted a final report containing theory, build history, tutorials, results and recommendations for the next student to continue the research.

Dylan Baxter, P.Eng. obtained a Bachelor of Applied Science (B.A.Sc.) in Mechanical Engineering with a Minor in Commerce from The University of British Columbia between 2011 and 2015. In addition to their degree, they have obtained several certifications, including Confined Spaces Awareness from the Worksite Safety Compliance Centre in 2019, Deutsch als Fremdsprache Level A1.2 from the Technical University Munich in 2018, Deutsch als Fremdsprache Level A1 from did deutsch-institut in 2015, Building Performance Analysis Certification from Autodesk in 2014, Advanced Rescue (Hub/Blade/Basement and CS Rescue) from Team 1 Academy in 2019, Working at Heights from Global Wind Organisation in 2019, Standard First Aid, CPR/AED Level C from Canadian Red Cross in 2018, and Working at Heights (WAH) Certification from Canadian Standards Authority in 2018.
