Thomas Boesen

VP Middle East at Borealis

Thomas Boesen has had an extensive career in the chemical industry, working primarily for Borealis and Borouge. Thomas started in 2002 as Manager of Group Business Planning & Analysis at Borealis, where they were responsible for corporate business planning and reporting. Thomas then worked as Manager of Business Planning & Development, overseeing joint ventures in the Middle East and Asia. In 2005, they joined Borouge as Group Financial Controller and later became Director of Business Planning & Analysis at Borealis. In 2011, they became the Chief Financial Officer of Borouge, leading a global finance team and redefining business models. From 2014 to 2018, they served as a Senior Advisor to the CEO, leading the development of Borouge 2030 Strategy and implementing excellence programs. Since 2018, they have been the VP Middle East at Borealis, managing their Representative Office in Abu Dhabi and their joint ventures with the Abu Dhabi National Oil Company.

Thomas Boesen has a BA in Business Administration from Copenhagen Business School, which they obtained between 1987 and 1991. Thomas then pursued an MBA in International Business & Strategy, Management Accounting, and Finance from the University of Washington from 1992 to 1993. Thomas also earned an M. Sc. in International Business & Strategy, Management Accounting, and Finance from Copenhagen Business School from 1992 to 1994. Additionally, Thomas has completed two executive education programs from IMD; one in Excellence in Leadership in 2012 and another in Courage to Lead in 2005.
